Dr. Jerry A. Henke graduated from the University of Minnesota Veterinary School. After graduation, he served in the Army Veterinary Corps for 2 years. He became a resident of Clarke County, VA in 1973. Sensing the need for an animal hospital in Berryville, Dr. Henke opened the doors of Battletown Animal Clinic in 1983. Over the last 30 years, he has diligently cared for several species of animals such horses, cows, dogs, cats, and rabbits, but over the last 20 years has focused his attention on companion animals. His veterinary interests include ophthalmology and surgery.
He is a long-time member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, Loudoun Valley Veterinary Medical Association, DC Academy of Veterinary Medicine, and American Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. Outside of work, Dr. Henke enjoys learning about history and reading.
Sara Anderson is our resident groomer, and began working here in February 2015. She grew up in West Virginia. She has been an experienced groomer for 8 years. Her interests include horseback riding and camping. She relaxes by spending time with her boxer, Duece, and her Irish setter, Ozzy.
Michelle has worked here since 2008 helping in every area of the hospital. She grew up in Hampshire County, and graduated from Handley High School in 1990. She enjoys communicating with the clients and taking care of the animals. Outside of work she enjoys riding her four-wheeler and hiking. She loves spending time with her family and her bulldogs, Toby, Bentley and Moxie, and her bassett hound, Jame.
Judy has worked here since 2012. She received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Virginia Tech in 1980. She has been in the veterinary field for 35 years. She has a special interest in feline medicine. Her interests include music and being active in her church. She has 5 cats at home.
