Wellness & Preventative care

Building a foundation for a long, healthy, and happy life.

Proactive Health for Every Stage of Life

Routine wellness care for your pet is about so much more than just vaccines. By evaluating your pet when they are healthy through regular exams, we not only work to prevent future disease, but we also establish a healthy clinical baseline, which allows us to track subtle physical changes over time.
Your pet’s health needs can change quickly, especially as they age. Having this established baseline and a solid understanding of your pet’s normal state is a critical part of the care we provide—and it’s never too late to get started.

Services

Because dogs and cats age much faster than we do, and instinctively hide signs of illness or discomfort, regular check-ups are the best way to catch minor health issues before they become major problems.
Our core wellness and preventative services include:

  • Comprehensive Physical Examinations: Complete nose-to-tail evaluations (recommended annually for adult pets and biannually for pets over the age of 7) to assess overall health, weight, and physical condition, with dedicated time to discuss your concerns and answer your questions.
  • Routine Preventative Lab Work: On-site preventative bloodwork, heartworm testing, and fecal testing to monitor your pet’s internal health, including routine screenings to safely manage pets taking specific daily medications. (If you need to collect a urine or fecal sample as part of your visit, please view our At-Home Sample Collection & Drop-Off Instructions).
  • Personalized Vaccination Protocols and Preventative Care Plans: Individualized vaccine schedules and care plans based specifically on your pet’s age, environment, and lifestyle, aligned with AVMA guidelines.
  • Parasite Prevention: Expert guidance on the best flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives for your pet and direct access through our direct-to-door pharmacy.
  • Nutritional & Behavioral Counseling: Plans for optimal nutrition, diet, and weight management, and advice on managing any behavioral concerns.

Our standard exam fee is $75. If you are a new client joining our clinic family, we do require a $75 deposit to hold your first appointment, which is applied directly to your visit. Yes, we highly recommend it! We offer really great deals on routine preventative lab work during your pet’s wellness exams. Because pets can’t tell us when they feel sick, bloodwork gives us a crucial look at their internal health and helps us establish a healthy baseline for the future.
We make managing your pet’s preventatives simple through our integrated online pharmacy. We regularly run special promotions matching manufacturer deals, allowing you to get the high-quality preventative medications your pet needs shipped directly to your home.
Yes. Even strictly indoor pets are at risk of exposure. Mosquitoes, which transmit heartworm disease, frequently enter homes, while fleas and ticks can easily hitch a ride indoors on human clothing. We recommend year-round parasite prevention and core immunizations for all pets, regardless of their primary environment.
For puppies and kittens, we recommend scheduling their first visit at around 6 to 8 weeks of age. If you’re bringing an older pet into your family, you should schedule an exam or as soon as you bring them home. These initial examinations are critical for starting their core vaccination series, initiating routine deworming, and monitoring their early physical development.
