Senior Wellness & Advanced Therapies

We partner closely with you to address the unique physical and metabolic changes that accompany aging. Our comprehensive geriatric support strategy includes:

  • Advanced Pain Management: Adjusting multimodal analgesic protocols to effectively treat osteoarthritis and degenerative joint disease.
  • Cold Laser Therapy: Utilizing a highly effective, noninvasive treatment to reduce pain and decrease inflammation without drugs or surgery. This advanced modality accelerates healing and is excellent for managing arthritic conditions, surgical incisions, lick granulomas, and localized infections (such as anal gland abscesses).
  • Proactive Disease Monitoring: Coordinating advanced diagnostics to accurately track and manage chronic disease progression.
  • Quality of Life Consultations: Providing dedicated, compassionate appointments to help you objectively evaluate your pet’s daily comfort and navigate difficult decisions.
  • End-of-Life Care: Providing compassionate palliative support and gentle, humane euthanasia when medical intervention can no longer maintain their quality of life.

End-of-Life & Hospice Care

Saying goodbye is the hardest part of loving a pet. Know that our team is committed to providing you with the clinical support and empathy you need to make the best decisions for your family.

If you are unsure how your pet is truly feeling, we offer specialized Quality of Life consultations to help you evaluate their daily comfort, pain levels, and happiness as objectively as possible, without any judgment from us. If your pet is facing a terminal diagnosis or severe age-related decline, we provide customized palliative care to prioritize their daily comfort and aggressively manage their pain.

When it is time to say goodbye, we offer peaceful, humane euthanasia. We use gentle sedation protocols to ensure the procedure is painless and stress-free for your pet, and performed in a quiet, dedicated space for your family to be together. We also assist with coordinating respectful aftercare and cremation arrangements so you do not have to worry about logistics during such a difficult time.

FAQ

Generally, dogs and cats are considered seniors around the age of 7, which is when we recommend switching from annual to biannual wellness exams. However, this can vary based on breed and size. Large and giant breed dogs tend to age much faster and may reach their senior years by age 5 or 6, while smaller dogs and cats often live well into their late teens.
Because health changes can occur very rapidly as pets age, we recommend senior wellness exams every 6 months. Biannual visits, combined with routine senior bloodwork, allow us to catch early warning signs of disease before they become serious emergencies.
Absolutely! You do not have to accept pain as a normal part of your pet’s aging process. We have access to incredible advancements in veterinary pain management today, ranging from highly effective anti-inflammatory medications to targeted monthly injections that dramatically relieve arthritis pain and improve mobility.
Behavior changes in older pets—such as pacing at night, having accidents in the house, or seeming disoriented—should never be ignored. While they can be symptoms of Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (similar to Alzheimer’s in humans), they are also frequently caused by hidden physical pain, vision loss, or treatable internal diseases.
Knowing when to say goodbye is extremely difficult. A quality of life consultation is a dedicated appointment where our doctors help you objectively evaluate your pet’s daily comfort, pain levels, and happiness. We answer your questions honestly and support your family through the entire process, without judgment.
Yes, absolutely. We highly encourage you to stay by your pet’s side, as your familiar presence, voice, and touch provide immense comfort and peace to them in their final moments. However, we also understand that this is a profoundly personal and emotionally overwhelming decision. If you feel it is too difficult for you to remain in the room, please know there is no right or wrong choice. If you choose to step out, our team will gently hold, pet, and talk to your best friend so they are surrounded by love and never alone.
