Fast, Accurate Answers When You Need Them Most

When your pet isn’t feeling well, waiting for answers can be incredibly stressful. Because our patients cannot tell us what is wrong, diagnosing complex medical conditions requires a combination of compassion and advanced technology. By maintaining a comprehensive suite of diagnostic equipment right here in our Berryville clinic, we’re able to get rapid results so we can get your pet feeling better, faster.

We utilize our in-house laboratory for both proactive wellness screenings and investigating sudden or chronic illnesses. Having immediate access to this data allows our medical team to create treatment plans right away, without waiting on third-party laboratories.

Available Testing & Diagnostic Services

We utilize advanced imaging and laboratory screenings not only to get to the bottom of sudden illnesses but also as a highly effective preventative tool to protect your pet’s long-term health.

Our on-site diagnostic capabilities include:

  • In-House Laboratory: Complete blood counts (CBC), chemistry panels, and advanced urinalysis for an immediate, comprehensive look at your pet’s internal organ function. (Preparing for upcoming lab work? Please review our Pre-Lab Work Preparation Protocols).
  • Targeted Disease & Heart Screening: Rapid in-house testing for heartworm disease, tickborne and infectious illnesses, and specialized bloodwork to proactively assess cardiac health.
  • Advanced Diagnostic Imaging:
State-of-the-art digital X-rays and targeted on-site ultrasounds. We can send these images and echocardiograms directly to board-certified radiologists for same-day, STAT interpretations. Additionally, for complex cases, we partner with a mobile veterinary specialist who travels to our clinic to perform comprehensive ultrasound imaging. (Preparing for an upcoming ultrasound? Please review our Ultrasound Preparation Protocols).
  • Cardiovascular Monitoring: Electrocardiograms (EKG) and blood pressure monitoring to closely track your pet’s heart health and stability. Through our partnership with CVCA, our in-house EKG machine transmits your pet’s cardiac data directly to a board-certified cardiologist for an expert reading.
  • Specialized Clinical Evaluations: In-house glaucoma screenings (tonometry) to protect your pet’s vision, and immediate microscopic evaluations (cytology) to accurately treat skin, mass, and ear concerns.
  • At-Home Sample Collection: If your veterinarian requests a fecal or urine sample to be collected at home, please review our At-Home Sample Collection & Drop-Off Instructions and always use the containers provided by our clinic to ensure the most accurate results.

FAQ

Because we are equipped with a comprehensive in-house laboratory, we can process many routine bloodwork, urinalysis, and critical diagnostic tests within minutes—and at a highly affordable price point compared to industry averages. For more specialized screenings that need to be sent to our outside reference laboratory, results typically return within 24 to 72 hours.
Animals are masters at hiding illness and discomfort. Routine bloodwork is one of the best preventative tools we have for early detection. It helps us establish a normal, healthy baseline for your pet and allows us to spot subtle changes in internal organ function—like early kidney or thyroid disease—long before they show any outward signs of being sick.

In many cases, we may ask you to withhold food from your pet for 8 to 12 hours before certain blood tests or abdominal ultrasounds. Fasting helps ensure the most accurate lab results and provides the clearest imaging. We will always give you specific, easy-to-follow instructions prior to your appointment. You can also review our general Patient Preparation Protocols online at any time.

Most of the time, no! Our medical team is highly trained in gentle handling techniques to keep your pet calm and comfortable during imaging. However, if your pet is in pain, highly anxious, or requires a very specific, perfectly still position (like for certain orthopedic X-rays), we may recommend a light, safe sedative to keep them completely still and as stress-free as possible.
Digital X-rays (radiographs) provide excellent two-dimensional images that are perfect for evaluating bone structures, joint issues, and the overall size of internal organs. Ultrasounds use safe sound waves to give us a real-time, three-dimensional look inside soft tissue organs (like the heart, bladder, and intestines), allowing us to evaluate their internal structure and blood flow.
